How Sussur Handles Your Conversations
Your meetings contain some of the most sensitive information in your business. Salary negotiations. Client pricing discussions. Investor updates. Partnership terms.
Most AI meeting tools upload that audio to a server for processing, keep the recording, and give you a web app to get it back from. Sussur is built the other way around — and there is exactly one place where data does leave your machine. Here is the whole picture, including that part.
On-device transcription
Sussur uses Parakeet TDT, a speech-to-text model that runs on your Mac. No cloud transcription API. No audio upload. The model runs locally on Apple Silicon.
Your words are transcribed in real time without the recording ever leaving your device. Not temporarily, not in an encrypted bucket, not for a retention window. Your audio and video never leave your device, and no video frame is transmitted anywhere — Sussur reads nothing from your camera at all.
The part that does leave: coaching
Coaching is generated by a language model, and that model is not on your Mac by default. To produce a suggestion, Sussur sends transcript text and the surrounding context to our model provider.
We would rather write that sentence plainly than bury it. Your words go over the wire to get coached — from your Mac to the AI provider whose key you supplied, with nothing of ours in between. What does not go: the audio, the video, a full session archive uploaded for storage, or anything read from a face or a voice — Sussur infers none of that in the first place.
You can see what was sent in the app's activity log.
Local storage
Meeting transcripts, coaching suggestions, contact personas, and rapport scores are stored in SQLite and LanceDB databases on your Mac. Not in our cloud — Sussur has no server that holds any of it, and no account system to hold it against.
You can export or delete your data at any time. When you delete a session, it is gone from your disk, and there is no cloud backup to chase.
Why this matters when you're the one selling
If you are one of the few people selling at your company, your calls are the business. The deal you are trying to close. The pricing you quoted. The competitor the buyer just named.
Those conversations deserve the same care as your financial records. Sussur gives them that by keeping the recording on your hardware, keeping the transcript archive off our servers, and being specific about the one step that isn't local rather than rounding it off in the marketing.
Download Sussur and check the activity log yourself.
