System requirements
What you need to run Sussur — macOS version, Apple Silicon, disk space, and your own AI provider key.

Before you download, make sure your Mac can run Sussur.
Requirements
- macOS 13 (Ventura) or later.
- Apple Silicon (M1 or later).
- ~2 GB free disk — the app plus a one-time on-device speech model (~640 MB).
- Your own AI provider — an OpenRouter API key, or Ollama running locally if you'd rather stay offline.
- A network connection for AI coaching and updates — unless you run Ollama, in which case Sussur works fully offline. Transcription itself always runs offline once the speech model is downloaded.
Note
How to check your Mac: click the menu in the top-left → About This Mac. If the Chip line says "Apple M1" (or M2, M3, …), you're on Apple Silicon.
Not supported yet
- Intel Macs. Sussur ships an Apple Silicon build today; an Intel build is not yet available.
- Windows and Linux. Sussur is macOS-only for now.
Tip
Sussur is free while it is in development. You pay your AI provider directly for what you use, and nothing to us.
